Apply for this roleAt the moment we buy this work in. We would like someone to own it properly, because mistakes in a mould are expensive to correct once the steel is cut.
You will own the data pack the tool maker works from, and the review that decides whether it is ready to go.
What you will own
- 3D data packs and part drawings released at Rev A across the full BOM
- DFM reports covering wall section, draft, gate and ejection for each part
- Cavity plans, material and tolerance specifications, and mould-flow checks
- Mould design review and sign-off on every tool, 2D and 3D
- Tool-maker evaluation, with a landed-cost comparison you can explain
What we need
- Five to ten years in tool design or DFM for injection moulding
- You have reviewed and signed off mould design on multi-cavity tools
- Mould-flow simulation in any mainstream package
- You have run a tool-maker selection and can explain the costing behind it
- You are comfortable raising a problem with a tool maker and backing it up
What helps
- China or Taiwan tool sourcing
- Bottle, closure or cosmetic-part tooling
- Hot runner systems
- Experience of a tool that went wrong, and what you learned
