Mechanical / New Product Development
NPD Engineer — consumer product
Sit with the client and at the tool room, close DFM queries, run the trials, and keep a product programme moving.
- Experience
- 3–6 years
- Location
- Pune, Maharashtra, India
- Engagement
- Fixed-term, six months, reviewed at three. Extends with the programme.
With extended periods at client and tool-maker sites, including Karnataka.
Apply for this roleYou will spend most of your time at the client's site and in the tool room. When a DFM question comes up, you are the person who gets it answered and written down, instead of waiting for the next review call.
We work to milestones, so a programme only moves when a gate is signed off. Getting those gates closed is most of the job.
What you will own
- Representing us on site at the client and at the tool maker
- Closing DFM queries in writing: wall section, draft, gate, ejection, tolerance
- Running T0 and T1 trials, checking parts against the drawing and the master assembly
- Chasing samples and approvals so the gates close on time
- Bringing what you find back to the design office so the drawings stay accurate
What we need
- Three to six years in new product development for consumer or appliance hardware
- You can read a mould drawing and hold your own in a discussion about it
- You have been in a tool room for a first-shot trial and know what to check
- You are comfortable being the only person from your company in the room
- You write a clear defect report that a vendor can act on
What helps
- Injection-moulded cosmetic parts
- BIS or electrical safety submissions
- Reading mould-flow results
- Kannada or Marathi
Being straight with you
There is a fair amount of travel, and you will often be the only person from our side in the room. That suits some people and not others. If you prefer to work on the drawings themselves, look at the Tooling and DFM role instead.

Fill this in and it comes straight to us. We read every application and reply to the ones we can take forward.
